For good maintaining your ballet tutuYou need to start by preparing it properly. For flat tutus, start by removing all removable decorations. For all other tutus, you can start straight away with the second step: shake the tutu to remove dust and traces of make-up. Then use a soft bristle brush to gently brush the tulle. The final step is to examine the tutu from all angles to identify any damaged or worn areas. This preparation is essential before starting to clean the tutu.
To clean the tutu, we recommend that you call in a professional dry cleaner. However, if the tutu is not very dirty or stained, you can clean it yourself by following these few steps.
It is advisable to clean your tutu by hand using lukewarm water and a special detergent for delicate fabrics. Above all, don't rub the tutu, as it may become deformed. Immerse the tutu in this water and leave it to soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Then use a soft, clean cloth to gently clean the dirty areas, without wrinkling or twisting the tulle. Then rinse the tutu thoroughly in lukewarm water. Gently squeeze the tutu to extract the water, without wringing it. Lay the tutu flat on a towel to dry in a dry, well-ventilated place.
To prevent the tutu from wrinkling and becoming damaged, there are covers protection. These are ideal for transporting the tutu but also for keeping it dust-free.
