After several years of research and development, Wear Moi launches its first tip in 2011.
It was called La Pointe By Wear Moi and was launched by the French brand created by a couple of French dancers.
Year after year, Wear Moi became increasingly interested in designing new ballet pointe shoes. Originally inspired by the feet of dancers, the French dance brand imagined shapes, moulds and designs: many ideas germinated in its mind. From the sketch to the final fitting on the dancer, and including many other development and manufacturing stages, Wear Moi was able to build up its skills and master its subject very quickly.
As you can imagine, making Ballet pointe shoes is a meticulous process, requiring each one to be entirely hand-crafted. To achieve this, Wear Moi has set up its own team of craftsmen, each of whom has been trained in its method.
Let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process. Wear Moi spikes are made using the "turn shoe method". What this means is that the toes are made inside out, to hide and protect the seams!
The slipper's box is made from a variety of organic materials: hessian, polymer clay and reinforced cardboard. As soon as the box is created, the folds are formed in the satin that encloses the slipper and secured with metal clips. The shoe is then sewn together and the sole joined to the upper with wax thread. Next, the toe of the shoe is turned right side out and the insole is inserted. Finally, the box, which is not yet completely dry, is hammered into its final shape.
In order to offer a product that is suitable for as many people as possible, in 2017 we introduced the Alfa and Omega pointe models. Unlike La Pointe By Wear Moi, which has a rather traditional shape, these two new models show an evolution in their shape. It's the perfect fit for all types of curves! There are a number of new features on Alfa and Omega: a microfibre lining that guarantees comfort and non-slip properties, the introduction of a new drawstring system with an elastic lace for Alfa and an elastic edging for Omega.
In 2022, the Wear Moi range of pointe shoes has evolved! The range has been simplified to make it easier for all types of dancers to find what they're looking for!
